Statement of Faith

This is my personal Statement of Faith.

The Written Word of God: the Bible

I believe that the Bible is God-breathed, inerrant, infallible, inspired by the Holy Spirit and authoritative. It has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth, without any mixture of error, for its matter. Therefore, all Scripture is totally true and trustworthy. It reveals the principles by which God judges us, and therefore is, and will remain to the end of the world, the true center of Christian union, and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and religious opinions should be tried. All Scripture is a testimony to Christ, who is Himself the focus of divine revelation It is the final authority.

I believe the Bible consists of 66 books and they are to be interpreted according to their context and purpose in reverent obedience to the living Lord who speaks through them in power by the Holy Spirit. The primary purpose of Scripture is to lead to faith in Jesus. It is the final authority.

Deuteronomy 4:1-2; 17:19;  Psalms 19:7-10; 119:11,89,105,140; Isaiah 34:16; 40:8; Jeremiah 15:16; Matthew  22:29; Luke 21:33; John 5:39;  17:17; Acts 17:11; Romans 15:4; 16:25-26; 2 Timothy 3:15-17; Hebrews 4:12; 1 Peter 1:25; 2 Peter 1:19-21.

One living and true God

I believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Gen. 1:1; Duet. 6:4; Eph. 4:6; Mat. 3:16-17; Mat. 28:19; II Cor. 13:14; I Peter 1:2; I John 5:6-8

Salvation

I believe that through our Lord Jesus Christ’s death, it fully accomplished justification through faith and redemption from sin due to Him dying in our place and bore our sins in His own body.

I also believe that  salvation is received only  by grace alone, by  faith alone, and in Christ alone.

Good works and obedience are results of salvation, but are not requirements for salvation ; Due to the greatness, sufficiency, and perfection of Christ’s sacrifice, all those who have truly received Christ as Savior are eternally secure in salvation, kept by God’s power, secured and sealed in Christ forever;Salvation cannot be earned by good works, neither does it need good works to be maintained or sustained. Good works and changed lives are the inevitable results of salvation.

Acts 2:21; 4:12; 15:11; 16:30-31; 17:30-31; 20:32; Romans 1:16-18; 2:4; 3:23-25; 4:3ff.; 5:8-10; 6:1-23; 8:1-18,29-39; 10:9-10,13; 13:11-14; 1 Corinthians 1:18,30; 6:19-20; 15:10; 2 Corinthians 5:17-20; Galatians 2:20; 3:13; 5:22-25; 6:15; Ephesians 1:7; 2:8-22; 4:11-16; Philippians 2:12-13; Colossians 1:9-22; 3:1ff.; 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24; 2 Timothy 1:12; Titus 2:11-14; Hebrews 2:1-3; 5:8-9; 9:24-28; 11:1-12:8,14; James 2:14-26; 1 Peter 1:2-23; 1 John 1:6-2:11; Revelation 3:20; 21:1-22:5.

Baptism and the Lord’s Supper

Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer’s faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Saviour, the believer’s death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Christ Jesus. It is a testimony to his faith in the final resurrection of the dead. Being a church ordinance, it is prerequisite to the privileges of church membership and to the Lord’s Supper.

The Lord’s Supper is a symbolic act of obedience whereby members of the church, through partaking of the bread and the fruit of the vine, memorialize the death of the Redeemer and anticipate His second coming.

Matthew 3:13-17; 26:26-30; 28:19-20; Mark 1:9-11; 14:22-26; Luke 3:21-22; 22:19-20; John 3:23; Acts 2:41-42; 8:35-39; 16:30-33; 20:7; Romans 6:3-5; 1 Corinthians 10:16,21; 11:23-29; Colossians 2:12.

The Church

I believe that the Church,is the living, spiritual Body of Christ, of which Jesus is the Head and all regenerated persons are members. The local church is the primary instrument of God for the extension of His Kingdom today.I believe that the Church, in addition to promoting worship and mutual edification, is to witness in word and deed to the reality of Christ as Savior and Lord, taking the gospel to all peoples, making disciples, baptising and teaching all that Christ has commanded.

Heb. 10:25; Mat. 16:18; Acts 2:47; I Cor. 1:2; Rom. 16:3-5; Gal. 1:2; Col. 1:18; Eph. 1:22-23

The visible, bodily return of Christ and God’s fair judgement

I believe that Jesus Christ will return to the earth physically to raise the dead, judge the world, consummate His glorious Kingdom, and bestow eternal blessing on those declared righteous through faith in Jesus Christ – this is the hope of the Church. The wicked, rejecting Christ as Lord and Saviour, will be fairly judged for their sins and will be banned from God’s presence forever, along with Satan and his angels.

I Thess. 4:16-17; Ro. 8:23; Tit. 2:13; I Cor. 15:51-52; II Pet. 3:13; Matt. 25:46; Mark 9:43-48; John 3:36; Rev. 20:11-15; 21:8

  • What about Denominations?
  • 12 Now I say this, that each of you says, “I am of Paul,” or “I am of Apollos,” or “I am of Cephas,” or “I am of Christ.” 13 Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?
14 I thank God that I baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius, 15 lest anyone should say that I had baptized in my own name. 16 Yes, I also baptized the household of Stephanas. Besides, I do not know whether I baptized any other. (1 Corinthians 1:12-16, New King James Version)

There’s a reason I don’t post or share what denomination we are a part of.

From “What about the Denominations“, it was shared,”

With such a great presence, the idea of denominationalism has become the standard in most people’s view of the church. Where once Christians were asked, “With which congregation do you meet?” or “Of which church are you a member?”, of late the question has become, “Of which denomination are you a member?”

This isn’t about what denomination we are or aren’t, but about our Father in Heaven and His word, the Bible, only. We are not defined by what a denomination says, but what our Father in Heaven says  in the Bible.

As 1 Corinthians 1:12-15 goes, Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?  I thank God that I baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius,  lest anyone should say that I had baptized in my own name.” Now I say this, that each of you says, “I am of Paul,” or “I am of Apollos,” or “I am of Cephas,” or “I am of Christ.”

Paul spoked out sharply about divison:

“…speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you” (1 Corinthians 1:10).

For you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men? For when one says, ‘I am of Paul,’ and another, ‘I am of Apollos,’ are you not carnal” (1 Corinthians:3-4)?”

I suggest that one read “What About the Denominations“, but please,Gentle Reader, keep in mind, that article, is not representative of my church or an inclination to what my denomination is or about seeking the truth but knowing the truth (Hebrews 9),but what I felt is a great layout of why we feel it’s not about “what denomination” but the truth, our Heavenly Father’s, only truth.

14 And if anyone does not obey our word in this epistle, note that person and do not keep company with him, that he may be ashamed. (2 Thessalonians 3:14, New King James Version)

For me, it’s not about what denomination, but does a person believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour ( 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. (John 14:6, New King James Version),

and there is only one God (Gen. 1:1; Duet. 6:4; Eph. 4:6; Mat. 3:16-17; Mat. 28:19; II Cor. 13:14; I Peter 1:2; I John 5:6-8),

    and that the Bible is the final authority  and there is no other (Deuteronomy 4:1-2; 17:19;  Psalms 19:7-10; 119:11,89,105,140; Isaiah 34:16; 40:8; Jeremiah 15:16; Matthew  22:29; Luke 21:33; John 5:39;  17:17; Acts 17:11; Romans 15:4; 16:25-26; 2 Timothy 3:15-17; Hebrews 4:12; 1 Peter 1:25; 2 Peter 1:19-21.)
