Growing Long Hair Challenge Update

Okay…the only thing I DID cut, no gasping or clutching of chest, was bangs; I.just.had.to.cut.bangs and it actually helped that my mil was the one to do it, due to being able to have a steady hand and she knew what she was doing.

Apparently it impressed my youngest enough that she let Grandma trim her bangs too.

My husband was laughing at seeing three generations in one room and the oldest generation cutting bangs for the other two.

Using the coconut oil treatment; I tried the olive oil and the funny looks from my husband, the fact that I couldn’t get the image of a salad out of my head and it felt a little greasy on mine, convinced me to stop.

I’m still using the Fructis leave in conditioner, coconut oil (3 times a week) and Pantene’s Beautiful Length’s Shampoo though I may switch to Fructis “Long and Strong”.

I’ve used it before and loved it.

The hardest part is remembering to take my vitamins though I’ve developed a thing for eating tuna sandwiches twice a week; I’m grateful I don’t have a cat or a fish…particularly a fish.

Poor thing would be glaring at me around lunch time.

Growing Long Hair Challenge Reminder

There’s not much to report other than I haven’t taken to the scissor to cut my hair short, though wigs as suggested by “AmyDeanne” sounds like a great idea to deter me from considering it.

My hair isn’t quite long enough to hold a braid but long enough for pony tails but I’ve been keeping an eye out for hair clips to get to keep my hair out of my eyes.

I am tempted though to get bangs so really debating about that and praying if I should or just keep everything long.

Mother in law thinks I should, hubby is undecisive so long as it doesn’t involve cutting the rest of the hair short. LOL

Growing Long Hair Challenge Update-Olive Oil sounds interesting

My husband brought up the idea about me trying olive oil in my hair so of course, I googled, and came across this site ,”How to repair your hair with Olive Oil“,that shared an idea of how to use olive oil as a treatment for hair.

This sounded like a good idea to try (the olive oil) and I am thinking, I may try this, this coming week and see how it works…or I just may use the olive oil  for cooking.

If you have been thinking of growing your hair long or already trying, feel free to post a comment and a link to your blog. I , and others, would love to hear from you, particularly on ideas of how you keep motivated to grow your hair long, tips to keeping your hair long and strong (it’s a given to stay away from scissors, lol) and just offer encouragement.

Leave a link in “Mr.Linky” and don’t forget to post a comment (Mr.Linky is acting weird and won’t work unless I chose the option that requires a link and comment so just a link to your blog would be fine).

Growing Long Hair Challenge Update

Another week of growing my hair out long and so far haven’t felt the, “cut my hair short now” yet.

Don’t we all though, at one point and another while growing our hair out have that feeling?

It’s very tempting but  I like the idea that was mention in a comment about buying a wig, if anything it provides a visual reminder of what we are working  towards.

Meantime, in addition to buying scrunchies and safe, but cute hair clips,I invested in the following  hair products to help groom and encourage my hair maintenance:

By even just brushing your hair each day, it encourages the spread of natural hair oils that are essential to keeping hair growing strong with as little breakage as possible and a great rule of thumb, if you don’t need to use a hair dryer or flat iron, avoid it unless absolutely necessary.

For the most part, just an encouraging brush of the hair is enough to keep it maintain.

Oh! In addition I make sure I take my daily vitamin supplements each day.

Something else I learn…don’t brush your hair while wet…

If you must use something, use a wide tooth comb. The goal is to encourage healthy hair growth and not encourage a bird’s nest. Okay…maybe not a bird’s nest, but definitely will cause a lot of breakage and split ends that makes growing hair long, difficult.

Let me know how your venture into growing your hair long is doing or if you have made the dash to the nearest hairstylist.
