I was reading this daily devotional from Waterbrook, Inspired Newsletter and it goes:
The devotional really got me to thinking about those days when we just seem to not feel like reading our bible…..studying our memory verses…do we really want to do that study today?
Ever have those days?
Days like that…it might be a good idea to, like the suggestions, take a mental vacation from studying. Its easy when you are busy with life, or with work projects, to feel like….you’re only giving a shadow of your best and days like that, instead of try harder, its a good thing and not a bad idea to instead, try something differently.
Instead of reading your devotional, and your bible and your memory cards…cut back significantly and read a verse, instead of a passage, put on some praise music, but more than anything….go easy on yourself.
It could be a good sign instead of being a Martha (isn’t that such an over used but yet…relevant at the same time biblical cliche), and to be a Mary instead and focus not on doing more but doing a little less.
I would love to hear from you on this….what do you do on days when you feel like you’re in a slump? How do YOU make a point to step back and listen to God?
