Who is TwinkleMom

Twinkle Mom, besides being me,is a Christian SAHM who doesn't profess to be perfect, but just forgiven; On a constant road of learning, I am the loving wife to my best friend, my husband, a busy mom , I homeschool, I have two dogs that thinks they are cats sometimes and I'm a human being with faults like anyone else and always striving to grow and mature in our Heavenly Father's.

Getting Personal

Besides just being a mom, a homeschooler, a wife and a follower of Christ, Twinkle Mom also enjoys some of the following things:

  • A VERY avid reader; I love books and not just love books, but love books that for me, a trip to the library is an adventure. I don't come back with a few books, I generally bring enough books that they qualify to be used as weights for a workout.

  • I'm learning how to knit and constantly get the question,"What am I knitting", to which I answer,"Hopefully a straight line"; Doesn't that sound like the Christian walk in many ways; We have all fallen short of the glory but the difference in how we approach being a follower of Christ is making the choice to continue to perservere. I may never be the greatest knitter, but one thing is for sure, I won't learn how to knit if I don't keep working on learning how to knit.

  • I'm an amatuer writer and my goal really isn't to get anything publish because I seriously don't think I'm good enough or have the gift to publish anything, but that is okay. I spend my time honing my skills as a writer, either posting here, writing monthly devotionals for the Internet Cafe Devotions, or doing book reviews which actually serves several purposes:

    1. I get to discover new books to read
    2. I get to share those books with you, Gentle Readers, in the hopes you will discover something new to read (or maybe not to read, let's hope it's not always the latter!).
    3. It's fun and great, short exercises in writing; Really.
    4. Did I mention I get to read?

  • Starting in January, I will be participating in the "Bible in 90 Days" challenge; The reason is that I have set a personal goal to read through the bible and have tried different ways, but I feel that for myself, I set myself for failure so I'm learning that it's not really as difficult as I make it out to be (see the part about knitting). It's with prayers and hope that through the "Bible in 90 Days" challenge, I can meet that personal goal of mine.

  • I don't share what denomination I am a part of, but I do share what my statement of faith is.I do belong to A denomination, that is not based on popularity, culture or what any family member has gone to, but rather at it's core teaches the following

God created the world in six days, not by the process of evolution

God is a Trinity--Three Persons in One (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit)

Jesus Christ was born of a virgin, and lived a sinless life

He died on the Cross as the final payment for all sins

He rose again from the dead on the third day

He will appear one day again to "rapture" His church and judge the world

Mankind is sinful and in need of a Savior

Salvation is only by grace through faith in Jesus Christ

A person is saved when he/she repents of sin and trusts Christ as Savior and Lord

My statement of faith is not influenced or based on any denominational affiliation, but IS centered on what Our Father in Heaven speaks through the Bible and only through what He has shared through the Bible, regarding God, man, and the salvation provided through Jesus Christ.I see myself as a follower of Christ and not a follower of denomination.

If you are not a follower of Christ or thinking of becoming a Christian, or just want to learn more, I invite you to read,

  • Did I mention I love chocolate and coffee?? Two great combos. Enough said.
  • My Statement of Faith

This is my personal Statement of Faith.

The Written Word of God: the Bible

I believe that the Bible is God-breathed, inerrant, infallible, inspired by the Holy Spirit and authoritative. It has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth, without any mixture of error, for its matter. Therefore, all Scripture is totally true and trustworthy. It reveals the principles by which God judges us, and therefore is, and will remain to the end of the world, the true center of Christian union, and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and religious opinions should be tried. All Scripture is a testimony to Christ, who is Himself the focus of divine revelation It is the final authority. I believe the Bible consists of 66 books and they are to be interpreted according to their context and purpose in reverent obedience to the living Lord who speaks through them in power by the Holy Spirit. The primary purpose of Scripture is to lead to faith in Jesus. It is the final authority. Deuteronomy 4:1-2; 17:19; Psalms 19:7-10; 119:11,89,105,140; Isaiah 34:16; 40:8; Jeremiah 15:16; Matthew 22:29; Luke 21:33; John 5:39; 17:17; Acts 17:11; Romans 15:4; 16:25-26; 2 Timothy 3:15-17; Hebrews 4:12; 1 Peter 1:25; 2 Peter 1:19-21.

    One living and true God

I believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

    Gen. 1:1; Duet. 6:4; Eph. 4:6; Mat. 3:16-17; Mat. 28:19; II Cor. 13:14; I Peter 1:2; I John 5:6-8

    Salvation

I believe that through our Lord Jesus Christ’s death, it fully accomplished justification through faith and redemption from sin due to Him dying in our place and bore our sins in His own body. I also believe that salvation is received only by grace alone, by faith alone, and in Christ alone. Good works and obedience are results of salvation, but are not requirements for salvation ; Due to the greatness, sufficiency, and perfection of Christ’s sacrifice, all those who have truly received Christ as Savior are eternally secure in salvation, kept by God’s power, secured and sealed in Christ forever;Salvation cannot be earned by good works, neither does it need good works to be maintained or sustained. Good works and changed lives are the inevitable results of salvation. Acts 2:21; 4:12; 15:11; 16:30-31; 17:30-31; 20:32; Romans 1:16-18; 2:4; 3:23-25; 4:3ff.; 5:8-10; 6:1-23; 8:1-18,29-39; 10:9-10,13; 13:11-14; 1 Corinthians 1:18,30; 6:19-20; 15:10; 2 Corinthians 5:17-20; Galatians 2:20; 3:13; 5:22-25; 6:15; Ephesians 1:7; 2:8-22; 4:11-16; Philippians 2:12-13; Colossians 1:9-22; 3:1ff.; 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24; 2 Timothy 1:12; Titus 2:11-14; Hebrews 2:1-3; 5:8-9; 9:24-28; 11:1-12:8,14; James 2:14-26; 1 Peter 1:2-23; 1 John 1:6-2:11; Revelation 3:20; 21:1-22:5.

    Baptism and the Lord's Supper

Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer's faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Saviour, the believer's death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Christ Jesus. It is a testimony to his faith in the final resurrection of the dead. Being a church ordinance, it is prerequisite to the privileges of church membership and to the Lord's Supper. The Lord's Supper is a symbolic act of obedience whereby members of the church, through partaking of the bread and the fruit of the vine, memorialize the death of the Redeemer and anticipate His second coming. Matthew 3:13-17; 26:26-30; 28:19-20; Mark 1:9-11; 14:22-26; Luke 3:21-22; 22:19-20; John 3:23; Acts 2:41-42; 8:35-39; 16:30-33; 20:7; Romans 6:3-5; 1 Corinthians 10:16,21; 11:23-29; Colossians 2:12.

    The Church

I believe that the Church,is the living, spiritual Body of Christ, of which Jesus is the Head and all regenerated persons are members. The local church is the primary instrument of God for the extension of His Kingdom today.I believe that the Church, in addition to promoting worship and mutual edification, is to witness in word and deed to the reality of Christ as Savior and Lord, taking the gospel to all peoples, making disciples, baptising and teaching all that Christ has commanded.

    Heb. 10:25; Mat. 16:18; Acts 2:47; I Cor. 1:2; Rom. 16:3-5; Gal. 1:2; Col. 1:18; Eph. 1:22-23

The visible, bodily return of Christ and God's fair judgement

I believe that Jesus Christ will return to the earth physically to raise the dead, judge the world, consummate His glorious Kingdom, and bestow eternal blessing on those declared righteous through faith in Jesus Christ - this is the hope of the Church. The wicked, rejecting Christ as Lord and Saviour, will be fairly judged for their sins and will be banned from God's presence forever, along with Satan and his angels. I Thess. 4:16-17; Ro. 8:23; Tit. 2:13; I Cor. 15:51-52; II Pet. 3:13; Matt. 25:46; Mark 9:43-48; John 3:36; Rev. 20:11-15; 21:8

    Why Sunflower Faith?

Sunflower Faith is a constant work of progress, like we all are in our lives. The purpose is about sharing a constant growing (and prayfully maturing) walk with our Heavenly Father as a follower, a parent, and as a person. It was created to be a personal chronicle of reflections, thoughts and musings of a wonderful journey with our Father in Heaven, all the while, sharing the joys of being a follower of Christ, the occassional trials (no one is perfect and we all have our good days and our bad days), discovering and sharing books to enrich the growth of being a follower of Christ and to encourage the love of reading of just "regular" books that still Glorify our Heaven Father and provide good reading.
Through it all, still reminding oneself and all, that our Father in Heaven is the central foundation of all aspects of our lives.
