Rain was falling steadily as I left the vehicle. Immediately, I reached for the umbrella I always kept with me for those rare occasions we got rain.

For the most part, the weather is either warm and sunny or cold here, and there are few occasions when an umbrella is needed.

This was one of those times.

Opening the umbrella, I rushed through the rain to my appointment that I was already late to.

It never occurred to me until later how God’s word is like an umbrella.
