Reading,”Capture the Wind For Me” , felt like a high school graduation and saying a tear filled goodbye to old friends while getting to know new ones.
In, “Capture the Wind For Me”, Brandilyn Collins centers old and new characters under the scripture, Phillipians 3:13-14 that goes:
13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
(Philippians 3:13-14, New King James Version)
Wrapping up loose ends from the previous books in the “Bradleyville Series”, readers are returned to Bradleyville for one last time, and learning the importance of not only learning from our mistakes, but also forgiving and letting go our past and not letting it keep us from the future and hope that is promised in and through our Heavenly Father.
“Capture the Wind For Me” offers some complicated situations, but what is different about the last of the three series, is that set in more modern times, “Capture the Wind For Me” offers an insight of how more complicated the world has become for Christians in contrast to the earlier characters and books in the series that were set in a time and place that feels more innocent then in today’s world.
What I like the most about “Capture the Wind For Me” is a reminder that there are no easy answers in today’s world and the need for those whose faith are secure in our Heavenly Father to be an anchor for a world that offers more temptations and complications than ever before.
It was hard not to laugh as “Capture the Wind For Me” was set in a time when computers and the Internet are just then making an appearance and before we have the social medias of today like Facebook or Twitter or Myspace, and teenagers weren’t easily outfitted with cellphones.
For those who have read the earlier Bradleyville series, I highly recommend reading, ”Capture the Wind For Me” because not only do you get a little bit insight from the earlier books but you are treated with more “inside information” that were missing from the first two books in the “Bradleyville” series.
”Capture the Wind For Me” is a heart-warming wrapup of the Bradleyville series and Ms.Collins help give readers a chance to know that their favorite Bradleyville characters is and always will be in good hands.
More than anything as well, ”Capture the Wind For Me” fittingly helps readers remember that through forgiveness, and allowing our Heavenly Father to give us peace about mistakes that we can’t change ourselves, but He can provide us a firm foundation to find the needed redemption that in and through Jesus Christ, there is hope.
If you haven’t read the Bradleyville series yet, I recommend reading the first two books, before reading, ”Capture the Wind For Me”, because there are spoilers of the previous two books.
With”Cast the Road before Me” and “Color the Sidewalk for Me”,you could easily read Book one before Book two (though would suggest, unlike I did, lol, to try and read the books in order), ”Capture the Wind For Me” answers a lot of questions readers may have had about previous residents in Bradleyville.
It was sad to know this was the end of the Bradleyville series, but at the same time, the Bradleyville series, are a series of books that you would want to keep on your bookshelf to revisit again and again, though a box of tissues is recommended each time you do visit Bradleyville; For you will with have both tears of sadness and tears of joy.
