Word Filled Wednesday

It’s great to be back to Word Filled Wednesday.
I had taken a much needed sabbatical from what has felt like a busy year for us.
We made it through our first year of homeschooling and started off with a new year, a little better footing and jus t major changes that have occured (praise our Father) and revelations through and in Him.
Taking the sabbatical, it gave me a chance to take a step back and look at what worked in areas of my life, and what didn’t work and what needed to be changed.
In the process, we have grown a little, fallen back, move forward, move sideways (?) and just spent time as a family.

It’s funny the thing that gets revealed when we just.slow.down.

Some good. Some bad, but all to the glory of  our Heavenly Father, who seeks us, who pursues us, and for some of us, tackles us, if needed, but for all, He seeks to just talk to us, to share a revelation or give an answer.

For that to happen though, we must stop.

Stop.

Really.

Stop.

It’s so easy to get caught up with the world and in today’s world, even easier to get caught up.

There is a not so funny commercial about cell phone use that does everything: Facebook, Twitter, You Tube, Email, the Web and it leaves to question, is there NO time, that is sacred any longer.

While at church, listening to the pastor, it’s hard not to get distracted, by someone who whips out their, it does everything, phone and start texting or checking their email or SURFING THE WEB IN CHURCH!!!

Going on sabbatical was a blessing, because we went where there was no cell phone coverage, we didnt’ bring a laptop and it was just…..bliss.

Quiet.

Bliss.

It was just us.

In the time that we were gone, I had read several (I read fast anyway) books about the bible, a devotional, one on Christian living and it was like drinking pure water when I also took the time to really jump and swim in His word with no phones ringing, no emails to check….nothing.

It made me realize.

We take SO much for granted that its not about comforted anymore but insulation.

All that gone.

The phone, the computer, the t.v., everything, do we have enough foundation to just be alone with Him and His word?

If not, it’s not too late, to choose Him over the computer, the phone, the television, the world and just spend…quiet time with Him.

The greatest rest I receive was when I turned away from everything and just turned to Him and Gentle Friend, that was the best recharger than anything. It made me realize how we get so busy in our lives, that we truly do not rest and we need to rest.

If anything, a great challenge is pick a day, a weekend and make it a habit to turn off the phones, the computer, the t.v., the world and just….turn on Him.

He wants to give us rest and comfort.

It’s without any strings attached.

Let Him bring rest and peace.
