Come join Iris’s “Thankful Thursdays” every Thursday to share your praises of what God has done for you in your life.
It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to your name, O Most High; —Psalm 92:1
It’s been so long since I’ve participated in Thankful Thursday; Mostly due to homeschooling but also because I begin to feel a little self-conscious and was worried I was reaching the point of sounding redundant and there are many more wonderful “Thankful Thursday” posts out there that just touches the heart and I felt mine weren’t worth being posted it.
For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted. Matthew 23:12 (NIV)
I’ve thought of returning to posting praises maybe once or twice a month, so I know in my heart that they are geniune and true praises to our Heavenly Father and just not lost in their meaning or lacking in true humilty.
I pray and hope that these praises on this “Thankful Thursday” will be lifted up to our Heavenly Father in humilty and not in prideful praise. He has done a lot for those closest to me and convicted my heart and that of family and friends.
Or do you think Scripture says without reason that the spirit he caused to live in us envies intensely? But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says:
“God opposes the proud
but gives grace to the humble.”[Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.
James 4:5-10 (NIV)
- We serve an Awesome and Wonderful God who redeems and convicts us with mercy and love. I am everyday humbled, convicted, awed and blessed to have Him as my Lord and Savior. I am grateful that He loves us through and through, though we are so imperfect and give Him really no reason that He should, but He does because He just loves us that He gave His life so we would be free.
- I give our Heavenly Father praise for leading us to this new church, we soon would call home. The biggest thing that has floored me about this church is the fact that my husband really loves it as in really loves it. There is something to be said when he, my husband, goes, we have to make sure we go to church EVERY Sunday, and this is something he normally, would NOT, do.
- With that said, I am very grateful to our Heavenly Father, for a loving, patient, just persevering husband. This coming Good Friday will be the first time, he and I will be taking Communion together. Normally this is something he would not do or have had an interest in doing, but he told not only myself but the pastor, he really felt convicted about taking the role of being head of the household and realized he is also the spiritual leader of the household as well. This really just had me in a state of, wow, “Did he just said that.?” He has express a desire to participate more with the church activities and really just embraced this new church to even shocking me about, “going on a mission sounds cool, though he would have to think about it, but sounds “cool”. This means a lot, that through and in Jesus Christ, he has embraced his role as being head of the household and spiritual leader. This doesn’t mean he is perfect anymore that I’m perfect (far from it), but it’s a good step and an answer to continual prayer that he and I not only grow stronger together, in our walk with our Heavenly Father, but in our relationship with our Heavenly Father.
- Heavenly Father, Thank You, Thank You, Thank You, for watching over my husband this week. Two minutes earlier and I might have lost him. Heavenly Father I can’t express how much I am just humble and thankful You watch over my husband and protected him from the ammonia leak. He could have been seriously harmed or worse and even now I don’t want to think about it too much; Tears keep coming. I pray and hope that this will be the opening that he finally needs to find a different job; Lord, Thank You for protecting my best friend.
- Heavenly Father, I also pray you watch over my children and I thank You for just the curiosity they have shown, the growth I’ve seen while homeschooling and Lord, I Thank You, for the bond they have; I pray and hope You keep watching over them, encouraging them, keep their sibling bond strong and just help me help them in their walk and that they will come to know You as their Lord and Savior.
- Lord, I am so grateful to You for the Titus women you have brought into my life through the church and in general life through other groups. The church, you led my husband and I to, have been a blessing and the older women there who have adopted me and are leading me are like moms. Between them and my mother in law, they are a blessing.
Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God ~Titus 2:3-5
Gentle Friends and Readers, I will probably just post twice a month, but I look forward to reading your “Thankful Thursday” posts. My prayers and wishes with you that our Heavenly Father will watch over you and your family and bless you.

Thank you for sharing your beautiful post. Praise be to God for protecting your husband, I can’t imagine the fear in that kind of “close call.” I, too, know the joys of an amazing husband who stepped up to the role God intended for Him and can completely feel your joy in that praise. Thank you for sharing and I hope you visit more often than 2 times per month. None of us are “better” or write worthier posts…just sisters in Christ encouraging one another through our journey. Blessings!
