“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil” (Proverbs 3:5-7).
Oswald Chambers advises, “Whenever God gives a vision to a saint, he puts the saint in the shadow of His hand, as it were, and the saint’s duty is to be still and listen… When God gives a vision and darkness follows, waiting on God will bring you into accordance with the vision He has given if you await His timing. Otherwise, you try to do away with the supernatural in God’s undertakings. Never try to help God fulfill His word.”*[1.*Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest: An Updated Edition in Today's Language, ed. by James Reimann (Grand Rapids, MI: Discovery House Publishers, 1992), entry for January 19.]\
Did you’re breathe just stop at these words,”Otherwise, you try to do away with the supernatural in God’s undertakings. Never try to help God fulfill His word.” too?
It did me.
Patience.
That is such a difficult thing to learn. We’re all guilty of impatience in some form or another.
Be it waiting for a birthday.
Waiting in line.
Or what about, things not working out like YOU were wanting to or finding your projects at a stalemate and not really moving forward or backward and just feeling at a lost of what to do or where to go.
We all get that way and it’s not just us, but even the greatest of the great had their moments. Look at poor Moses.
One would think with our Heavenly Father, it should have been so easy. Just go in, free his people and be on his way, but one after another stumbling in his way and even THEN, when he finally got everyone out, the things they still had to overcome.
The blessed thing, is that sometimes things are not in vain, but just our Heavenly Father’s way of trying to get our attention and just put things in perspective.
I know, it would be so much better, if we could do without either some or all of that, but as I read,”Otherwise, you try to do away with the supernatural in God’s undertakings. Never try to help God fulfill His word“, it was a chilling reminder that we have to remember that it’s not for US to decide what will be or what to do, but to show trust in our Heavenly Father, by trusting HIM and allowing HIM to guide us, instead of the other way around.
It brings back to mind that old phrase,”Playing God” and yes, I have to admit, watched,”Bruce Almighty”.
Talk about a contemporary (though I could have done without some of the scenes and language) reminder that there is a reason why God is in control (Thank You Heavenly Father and praise Your name) and not us.
I found myself just frustrated working on a project, but finally took a breathe and step away and was glad I did, because as I got my mind off of things and focus it elsewhere, I found myself finally coming back to what I was doing with a fresh mind, clean slate of mind and a new perspective.
The same with God.
When we stop trying to push and pull and just let HIM do what HE needs to do, how much more thankful in the end when we let His wisdom and divinity to pull through in the end.
Thank You Father that we have you as our Father and I pray that we continue to allow You to guide us, have patience with us and just continue to refine us through our service to and in You.
