*Due to sketchy internet service and mind just on praying for the safety of all those in Ike’s path including that of my husband, this post was not able to be published on September 12,2008 as intended.
Being this is now September 13 and pictures and news are coming in from the areas hit, I just pray to our Heavenly Father for His strength and much needed encouragement.
Right now internet is sketchy at best and we are currently waiting for word to come home. Praise God that all those in the family are safe and accounted for and just looking forward to coming home and seeing my husband who weathered the hurricane with our two dogs (that must have taken a LOT of patience).
Currently word is that it maybe anything from a week to as early as October before power can be resumed.
Please forgive me if postings are infrequent since at this moment I don’t know when anything will be (if ever or can be) back to normal and please please pray for all those in Texas and even Lousiana who was affected by Ike.
God bless the men and women who are out there right now saving people who were in the path of the storm and who are compassionate and caring to be out there to bring light in the darkest moment.
I will try to post again before we are officially back home but if not…please keep in your prayers tonight that through this storm and in its aftermath, that through the strength and love of Jesus Christ, that God’s strength can come through all this and be a shining testament to His love and hope.
Day one after leaving due to the mandatory evactuation that was enacted due to Hurricane Ike. Several strands of grey hair, an empty box of chocolate and prayers all the way, myself, my inlaws, and everyone else who fled ahead of Hurricane Ike has been keeping our eyes on the storm.
My mother in law had called ahead and wanted me and the kids to join her, not only because she would be more relieved knowing we were safe, but also to help be there for moral support and right now, it was a blessing from our Heavenly Father that she did.
Our original point of evacuation turns out to be in the path of the hurricane after landfall so we wouldn’t have been any safer, and yes, I praise our Heavenly Father that through my MIL, He led us to safer grounds.
My husband, however, stayed behind due to needing to put up shutters and he is one of many first responders that would be needed after the storm so hence, a good swath of grey hair from worry now. It’s still nine hours before the hurricane’s landfall and the images we are seeing via the internet and t.v. is making our jaws drop with disbelief.
Wednesday night, I had a nightmare that was one of those dreams, one keeps waking up from only to find themselves still in a dream and I remember waking up the first time (thinking I was awake, but I wasn’t), and walking out to see everyone packing up and feeling drawn back into my home, when that happen, I woke up (or at least thought I had) and when I walked out, what had been my neighborhood..most of it was gone (I know I know, but the dream was just terrifying) and the third time it had to do with seeing plywood and rebuilding everywhere…by then I woke up and it was 4 a.m. in the morning..little did I realize 6 hours later, I would be leaving with my inlaws.
Prayers to all who have left, are going to try to ride it out or know people who live in the area.
