Word-Filled Wednesdays

Photo Credit:Sunflower Faith      Trip to New York

The trip to New York was an amazing experience, though we were thrilled to be back home and back with the kids.

We had the opportunity to visit parts of Central Park and our guide that my husband’s company had hired, showed us some gardens that was in the area and this was a path that was off to the side of one of the gardens.

As we walked down the path, it really hit me not only the importance of reading God’s word but why He calls upon us to hide His word in our hearts for this was one of few moments, when I was glad I had laid a simple verse to heart: “Your Word is like a lamp for my feet and a light for my path.”

Yes Lord, Your word is a light and a path for me, for you, for all of us.

It really caught me off guard how quiet and serene the gardens were and for that moment, we forgot that we were in this huge, overwhelming (and loud) city, but as we just walk along those paths for that short moment, it was a reminder how God’s word takes us away and provides us with hope, with peace and with shelter from a consuming world.

Lord, I thank You for Your words that I try so hard to hide within my heart so when I need to cry out to You, You can give me shelter from a world that moves so fast.

  2. Twinkle Mom, you created a great picture and found the perfect verse to go with it. This is one of my favorite verses too, and I love when we sing this one in choir.

Love that picture. We visited NY once when I was newly pregnant and sick a lot, so my experience was colored by morning sickness. But I loved Central Park. So different than what I ever expected it to be. Thanks for the verse, too.

  6. I had the opportunity to go to New York several years ago for work. I was there for 2 weeks. I loved it. Even though I was working, we still had plenty of time to do almost all of the things we wanted.

    Love the photo and verse.

    Happy WFW

@Cheryl @ Hope: I was so overwhelmed how beautiful the city was…there were some parts that had me wrinkling my noise (I’m a country girl at heart) but for the most part, my husband had to tell me that my jaws were wide open…course that was also when we weren’t walking in the shopping areas….LOL

@ellen b: It sounded so cliche when I used it but it really reminded me how important it was to hide God’s word in our hearts.

As I walked the path and thought…hey this will make a great shot, the verse just popped to mind and it really just grounded me in the midst of this big city, who was really bigger than New York or anything in our lives….Praise God! He is an awesome God!

Great picture…great verse. The image of God’s Word lighting the way for our paths is one I will keep tucked in my heart as I do my next rounds of reading His Word.
