Faith Lift Fridays- Col 3:17

Faith Lift Fridays

Col. 3:17 “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the father through him.”

I am SO excited to be doing this meme again!! This is a really great meme and one that constantly kept me encouraged.

As I was reflecting on this verse, it really humbled me because I had one of those weeks of doubts where I felt like nothing I did was measuring up.

I didn’t feel like I was writing anything of worth, my hair wasn’t cooperating, I was out of loop with everything it seemed, it was raining every single day and I really empathize with a friend who question her choices.

I think it’s human to feel that way and it’s humbling and encouraging to know that through it all, we have an awesome Heavenly Father who loves us, imperfections and all.

He’s not about looking for winners….He wants the person who just tries, It doesn’t matter to Him if we succeed or not because in the end, that doesn’t matter to God.

What matters is that what we do is geniune, from the heart and in praise and testament to Him.

Why do we make it harder?

Maybe because we want to know we are doing good, feel appreciated and value, we want to know that we are seen and just acknowledged. That’s okay to feel that, but through it all, we have to reach in and find that same person we first was, when we first came to know our Heavenly Father and remember, when we came to Him, we weren’t gleaming silver.
We were tarnished, dirty, a bit scuffed up and dented in places, but God didn’t care…He loved us. He loved not what men see outside, but what men couldn’t see inside and He loved the fact we loved Him wholly, with all our hearts and no conditions….We needed, we wanted, we loved Him. That’s what God loved about us.

We came to Him as children and accepted His love, His grace, His redemption as a child accepts us without question.

It’s difficult to remember that as we go about our day to day lives and feel like we are not seen or appreciated, but God does see us and wow…Does He beam with pride and love at and for us and so we must show the same for Him through what we do, no matter how small or big it maybe.

This isn’t a race to see who can get God’s love the best….It’s about just being us and just loving Him no matter what it is we do.

In the end, God wants nothing more from us than our love. Simple.

So yes, there is a huge pile of laundry we’ve got to accomplish, or maybe that report for the boss we don’t want to do, or maybe that person we REALLLLLLLLLLLLY don’t want to deal with, but God wants us to remember, we’re not doing this for us, it’s not about us, or will ever be about us….It’s all for Him.

He will bless us accordingly so.

If we love Him as we proclaim, He will bless us for what our heart reveals to Him, but if we are doing this for just attention to ourselves…God’s not in the picture and He can’t see us then.

So try to smile, even with gritted teeth and teethmarks on your tongue….sing praises to Him and He will bless you and maybe even meet you at the pearly gates one day personally, with a cup of coffee and a slap on the back and say, “Rest, you did well”.
